When was the last time you searched for your company online? If it’s been awhile, open a new tab and look yourself up. One of the first things you should see at the top, or right-hand side of the results, is your business’s Google Profile. Here is what ours looks like. 👇

If one doesn’t populate for you, we recommend you stop and begin the process of setting up your company’s profile here. If you already have one, great! We’re going to walk you through a quick, step-by-step audit to get your profile up-to-date and working in your favor.
But Why Should I Care?
Great point. Your profile is one of the fastest ways to display information in a snapshot. Think of it like an online dating profile – out for your company. Here are a few reasons why keeping your profile-up-to date and accurate is beneficial for your business:
- Your profile directly impacts your website’s SEO.
- A relevant profile keeps you at the top of search results for keyword inquiries.
- Your business will show up on the map if a user searches for you when nearby.
I’m Sold - What Should I Audit?
- Let’s begin by making sure you have a high-res logo and cover image. Once that’s updated, click where it says “See Photos”. From there, you will be able to view your gallery where photos can be classified and organized into a few categories, like interior and exterior shots or team pictures.
This feature allows prospects to familiarize themselves with your brand before interacting with a member of your team. Be sure to upload properly named images so you can boost your SEO. For example, if you have an exterior shot of your office, you could name it “Company_Name_Exterior_Building_Photo”.
Since refreshing our profile, Grapevine’s cover image has gained nearly two thousand views, and some of our staff pictures have over a hundred (we just posted them). People like to assign a name to a face, so feature your team here.
- If you continue to scroll, you’ll reach the reviews section. We’re sure you know by now that it is essential to monitor your reviews and reply promptly. If your company is in the B2C category, then you might find yourself auditing more frequently.
Be sure to respond to both disgruntled and satisfied customers. Reviews are one of the first things a lead may look at before determining whether to call you or consider you as a solution to their needs.
- Continue down and there is an update/post section. This (like the photos) plays a part in your website’s SEO. We use this section of our profile to share company news and to list current specials we’re running. In addition to this, it can be used to publish blogs. When you post, include relevant keywords in your description that relate to your business and the services/products you provide.
That’s It!
While there are more nitty-gritty details to get into when it comes to your profile, we’ve outlined a great place to start. And while this may be one of our shorter blogs, it certainly doesn’t minimize the impact a properly optimized profile can have on your business.
