If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years – whether on the football field, behind the camera or in the editing bay – it’s that stories connect us. They teach, inspire and move people in ways that facts alone never could. And in my role as Director of Videography at Grapevine, I get to tell those stories through the lens of video every single day. But the path that led me here started with one person who saw something in me before I ever saw it in myself.
In high school, I was fortunate to have a teacher who was also my football and track coach. I probably spent more time with him during those four years than I did with my own family. Coach Ramsey wasn’t just a mentor; he was the person who helped me discover who I was and what I was meant to do. As my TV Production teacher, Coach Ramsey introduced me to the tools of visual storytelling. As my coach, he showed me the discipline, teamwork and leadership it would take to actually do something with those tools.
Coach had a way of pushing me without breaking me and challenging me while also giving me the confidence to grow. He taught me that video isn’t just about showing what happened – it’s about revealing why it mattered and why it should make someone feel something. He believed in the impact of stories, and Coach Ramsey passed that belief on to me. Looking back, I realize he wasn’t just teaching me how to produce video, he was teaching me how to tell the truth through images, rhythm and emotion.
That’s what I love most about visual storytelling. It’s not just about capturing footage – it’s about creating connection. A well-told story can turn a brand into a personality, a message into a movement. It can make people laugh, reflect, donate, share or take action. When done right, video can cut through the noise of the digital world and land right where it counts – on a personal, emotional level.
At Grapevine, I get to bring that passion to life every day. Whether I’m working on a brand story video, a social media campaign or an energetic event recap, like Wine, Women & Shoes, I’m doing more than creating content; I’m building stories that stick. And I’m not doing it alone. I’m surrounded by a creative team that understands the value of stories and the power of collaboration. From concept to delivery, we work together to ensure each project is not just visually polished, but emotionally compelling.
Visual storytelling matters because it reflects who we are and what we care about. For me, it’s more than a job. It’s the result of someone who cared enough to teach me not just how to tell a story, but how to show one. That teacher/coach relationship changed the course of my life, and I carry that legacy into every project I work on today.
Because true storytelling goes beyond words – it touches the soul.
