We’re all familiar with credit card fraud and hacking especially around the holidays–ahem, Cyber Monday. But this National Computer Security Day (Nov. 30) also reminds us to give some TLC to our desktops too.
National Computer Security Day was established by the Association for Computer Machinery after an attack on ARPANET (the original internet), which impacted 10 percent of all connected computers. Starting in 1988, this day would raise awareness around cybersecurity issues and empower users to take “ownership of their online presence and identity.”
In honor of this, here are some tips and tricks to make sure your computer is more secure!
